It means removing the old layers of floor finish and applying a new protective finish. The service is often called “waxing,” although the coating used may be a modern commercial floor finish. The aim is to renew the finish on the existing floor, rather than replace the tiles.

This service can suit VCT (vinyl composition tile) floors in supermarkets, shops, offices and other commercial spaces. Suitability depends on the flooring and its maintenance requirements. Concrete, ceramic tile and other vinyl flooring may need a different treatment. Christian checks the floor before recommending the work.
What Emerald’s service includes
- Assess and prepare. Visit the space, measure the work area, check the floor and agree on access and preparation.
- Remove the old finish. Sweep and clean, apply the appropriate stripping solution, and work the surface with floor equipment. Edges and corners receive attention too.
- Prepare for new coats. Remove residue and prepare the surface according to the products and flooring requirements.
- Apply fresh finish. Christian typically applies three or four coats. The final process and drying time depend on the floor and selected products.
When should you ask about it?
If your floor finish looks worn, uneven or built up despite regular cleaning, an assessment can help establish whether stripping and refinishing is appropriate. Some floors only need routine machine cleaning or maintenance of the existing finish.
